Buyer & Seller Protection

Draft pending legal review.

Buying from, or selling to, someone you've never met takes trust. FastSport sits in the middle of every sale: we check listings, hold the payment, arrange the courier, and step in if something goes wrong. Here's how that protects you, whichever side of the sale you're on.

How every sale is protected

  • Every listing is reviewed by our team before it goes live, and again whenever it's edited.
  • Payments are made through PayFast, a South African payment provider. FastSport never sees your card details.
  • We hold the payment until the buyer has their item, so neither side has to pay or ship on trust.
  • FastSport books the courier, so items travel through a delivery partner we choose, not by private arrangement.
  • Our team reviews every problem and decides it on the evidence: the listing, the photos and what both sides tell us.

Buyer protection

You're covered if your item:

  • arrives damaged;
  • is significantly different from the listing;
  • is in a significantly worse condition than described;
  • has a problem the listing didn't disclose; or
  • never arrives.

What that means for you:

  • Request a refund on your order within 48 hours of delivery, with photos of the problem. If your order hasn't arrived 10 business days after you paid, report it as not received.
  • If we approve your request, you get everything you paid for that order back, delivery included, by EFT within 48 hours of approval.
  • We arrange and pay for the courier to take the item back. You don't pay to return it.
  • If the item is as described but you've changed your mind, email us within 7 days of delivery and we'll help you resell it on FastSport at a lower price to buyers, while you still get the full price you set.

The Returns and Refunds policy has the full details.

Seller protection

  • The buyer has already paid before you hand your item to the courier. There are no payment scams or cheques to clear.
  • You're paid exactly the price you set, even when FastSport puts your item on special.
  • Refunds aren't automatic. A buyer has 48 hours after delivery to report a problem, with photos, and our team checks the claim against your listing before deciding. Wear or damage your listing showed isn't grounds for a refund, and neither is a buyer changing their mind.
  • If a refund is approved, your item comes back to you, and FastSport pays the return courier.
  • If the courier loses a parcel after collecting it from you, you're still paid.
  • Your ID and bank details are stored encrypted, and only a masked version is shown on screen.

See Getting Paid for when you're paid, and Seller Obligations for what you need to do to stay protected.

Staying protected

Protection only covers sales made and paid for on FastSport. Never pay a seller, or accept payment from a buyer, outside FastSport, and never arrange delivery yourself. If anyone asks you to, email support@fastsport.co.za.

Your rights

This protection doesn't affect your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
